Pindari Glacier 2004


On valentine's day 14th Feb 2004,we two rascal designated by our Fathers :) :) smiling and wishing our girl friend with lot of Love our journey began towards Pidary Glacier ..

We reached Kathgudam on 16th morning (40 hrs train). After having some snaps with some momos and bear, we headed towards Loharketh , the last motor able road, enjoying the 6 hrs panoramic drive between Kumaon Himalayas passing through the great lake Nainetal .

Next day 17th, early morning we started to trekked 10km, through the toughest way through out the trek for Dhakuri . The route passed with thick Rhododendron forest and full of chilling fear around welcomed by heavily heavily heavily snow falls for 3 hrs. Dinner and overnight stay at the PWD bungalow.

Next day 18th we started with hot "Yoyo" with dark red chili powder and started to trekked 9km, packed spicy momo to taste , towards Kathi.The last village with 50 beautiful families. A warmed welcome by Ms Sherpa (villager) .Night with barbeque's , Old Monk and a sweet sleep.

Next day 19th early morning we started towards Phurkia 5 hrs (16km/3260m), Dinner and overnight stay at GMVN rest house surrounded by thick green pine forest between snow carpeted valley.

Next day 20th the lazy early morning , we had our Breakfast and trekked a lengthy 21km way , we reached at ‘Zero Point’ hoyyyy hoyyyyy (4000m), the point in front of the snout of the Pindari Glacier offering us a magnificent view of the mighty Panwali Dhar peak (6683m) and the Nanda Kot peak (6876m).After spending some spectacular moments , wishes , snaps we ware one the way to Dwali.

Next day 21st we visit another breathtaking, Kafni glacier and get back to Dwali.Campfire, wine, dance with local ladies , overnight at PWD bungalow.

Next day 22nd we reached Dhakuri 19 kms, leaving behind thousands of our foot prints.Overnight at bungalow.

Day 23rd we reached Saung, 14km trek and then another 40 km by Jeep to Bageshwar.We enjoyed a dozen of bear , spicy, tasty pork and garma garam chakki ki roti with special home made red salad . Love it..

Next day 24th early morning a 5hrs drive between charming, panoramic, shinny greedy Almora city.The city makes you to feel....., Breakfast.... Masala dosa , Chana batora, Lassi and headed towards Kathgudam, leaving our dreams , affection , love, foot prints , hope and best wishes from core of heart.

Late night train to Home-sweet-home.....

Hilley Bersay Rhododendron Trail 2006



Situated at an altitude of 10,000 feet in West Sikkim.The place is surrounded by Rhododendron sanctuary.There are more than 100 types of Rhododendron are found .Blue Rhododendron also can be found above 11000 feet .You can have the best view of giant Mt Kanchanjunga , Three Sister , Pandim , Everest and many others snow caped peaks.

The way to Gurastal is through the dens forest of Rhododendron sanctuary. The one and only place where you can enjoy those peak in every way.The view of every peaks are magnificent.If you are lucky enough you can face red pandas, wild deers and other animals on your way.

How to Go:

1.Train / Flight to NJP / Bagdogra.

2.Car to Jorthang, to Okray, to Hilley.Then a easy walk about 3.5 kms for 1.5 hrs to Bersay. Stay and enjoy.

There ware only Two cottages available in Bersay. Mr Pal's cottage is simply marvelous and breathtaking decorated, highly matched with the surroundings .The other one is the forest guest house operated by villagers.

Sandakphu 2002

1.Overnight Train / Flight to NJP / Bagdogra.

2.Car to Manebhanjan , about 6 hours.Enjoy sight seeing.

3.Trek to Tonglu, about 5 hours (6.8 miles/10,500 ft) overnight at Trekkers hut.

4.Trek to Kalipokhri, through beautiful Singalila National Park about 5 hrs(6.9 miles/10257 ft)lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the rare red Panda. Overnight at Trekkers hut.

5.Trek to Sandakphu, about 4 hours (5 miles /11992 ft).Surrounded by panoramic view of Mt Kanchenjuga, Makalu, Lohtse, Annapurna, Pandim, Siniolchu, Everast. Overnight at Sandakphu Trekkers hut.

6.Trek to Falut, about 6hrs (13 miles/11880 ft)the most spectacular route in this region.Overnight at Trekkers hut or tent.

7.Trek to Gorkhey, about 5hr (9 miles/8910 ft) through the virgin forest of pines and chestnuts.The route is completely downhill.Overnight at Trekkers hut.

8.Trek to Srikhola, about 6 hrs (13 miles/7544 ft).Must have wine on the rocky bank of Srikhola Overnight at any hut beside Srikhola.

9.Trek to Rimbhik, about 2.5 hrs (5 miles),Car to Darjeeling , takes about 3 hours.Shopping , roaming and overnight at Darjeeling.

10.Darjeeling sight seeing or travel to NJP/Bagdogra by car,Train/Flight to Home-sweet-Home.

This Christmas ...


This famous valley in North Sikkim lies 140km north of Gangtok. Lachung provides the base for exploration of Yumthang, the valley of flowers. Situated at an altitude of 11800 ft ( 3564m) with a close proximity of Tibet, Yumthang is a unique place where the tree line ends.
To enjoy a clear sky and brilliant view of snow-capped mountains, the September - December season would be ideal.
